Spirulina
Spirulina is the food with the highest biological value of plant protein in nature, although it looks like a simple algae. It contains 65% protein, which is about 2 times more than its closest competitor, the soybean. Spirulina, which has the highest content of organic iron in the world, contains 58 times more iron than spinach and 28 times more than beef liver. It is the plant that contains the most vitamin B-12 in nature. It contains 2-6 times more vitamin B-12 than calf liver. Spirulina, which is also rich in antioxidants, contains minerals such as zinc, magnesium, and copper, the amino acids methionine and beta-carotene, vitamin E, vitamins B-1, B-5, and B-6, as well as selenium.
The cultivation of spirulina thrives only in alkaline lakes with a high pH value and in large outdoor ponds under controlled conditions. The climatic conditions in Greece, Japan, India, the USA, and Spain are ideal for the production of this algae. Quality spirulina is also characterized by a particularly dark green and natural color.
